Updating Our Subscription Boxes for a Changing Hobby

With the major licensing changes currently happening in the hobby, we’re seeing a dramatic increase in box prices along with growing challenges around inventory availability. Prices are at an all-time high, and access to product, especially at wholesale, has become increasingly limited.

When we started producing Hit Box subscription boxes four years ago, we were consistently able to include five hobby packs in our Rookie Football and Basketball boxes. Since then, wholesale pricing on entry-level products like Donruss and Elite has increased significantly, and mid- to high-tier boxes have followed the same trend. At the same time, key products like Topps Flagship and Chrome are no longer available through traditional wholesale channels, with secondary markets pushing prices far beyond standard levels.

Hockey and Baseball have also seen price increases, fortunately to a lesser degree, but it has still impacted our ability to build strong, consistent pack lineups.

With this in mind, we are updating the minimum pack counts for Hit Box Subscription Boxes starting with May 1st shipments.

It’s important to note that this change only affects the minimum pack count. Whenever we can include additional packs while maintaining quality, we absolutely will. We are also not reducing what we spend on each box, this change simply allows us to allocate more value into better packs, improving the overall quality and potential of each box.

Our goal hasn’t changed, every pack in your box should be worth opening.

We’re approaching this change from the perspective of collectors ourselves. While there may be fewer total packs, you can expect a stronger mix overall, more hobby packs in Rookie boxes, better hit odds, and higher-value potential across the board.
